Ancient DNA ancestry modeling, in your browser

Nexju is an ancestry-modeling workspace for population genetics. Fit qpAdm models, compute f-statistics, project genomes onto PCA, and date admixture events — against the ancient DNA reference dataset, with your own uploaded genome at the center.

What Nexju can do

Every analysis runs on native, reproducible implementations of the tools population geneticists use, with transparent diagnostics and full run history.

Toolkit

5 tools
  • qpAdm & qpWave ancestry modeling

Fit admixture models against published ancient and modern reference populations, rotate candidate sources automatically, and test how many ancestry streams your data actually requires.

    qpAdm · qpWave
  • f-statistics, D-statistics and FST

Run f3, f4, and D statistics to test admixture, shared drift, and treeness between any pair of populations, with block-jackknife standard errors and p-values, and pairwise FST to measure differentiation.

    f3 · f4 · D · FST
  • Principal component analysis

Project ancient samples and your own genome onto PCA axes built from predeclared reference populations, with eigenvalues, explained variance, and Tracy-Widom significance.

    smartpca · Max
  • Admixture dating

Estimate how many generations ago a two-source admixture pulse happened with DATES, reported with confidence intervals.

    DATES · Max
  • AI assistant integration via MCP

Connect the Nexju MCP server to Claude or any MCP-compatible AI assistant and design, run, and interpret population-genetics analyses in conversation.

    MCP

How it works

  1. Step 01

    Upload your DNA

Upload the raw autosomal data file from a consumer DNA test such as 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FTDNA or LivingDNA. Files are converted to the analysis format used by population geneticists.

  2. Step 02

    Design your model

Pick target and reference populations from the curated ancient DNA reference dataset, then validate qpAdm model designs before spending a single run.

  3. Step 03

    Run and interpret

Launch metered analyses and get proportions, p-values, dates, and principal component coordinates back with full diagnostics and run history.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about the analyses, your DNA, the reference data and MCP.

What is Nexju?
Nexju is a web-based ancestry-modeling workspace for population genetics. It lets you run qpAdm and qpWave models, f-statistics, PCA, and admixture dating on ancient reference genomes and your own uploaded DNA, all from the browser.
What analyses does Nexju support?
Nexju supports qpAdm ancestry proportion modeling with guided model rotation, qpWave rank testing and targeted f3/f4/D-statistics on every plan; f-statistic tables, pairwise FST, qpGraph admixture graphs and qpAdm robustness checks on Pro; and smartpca principal component analysis with sample projection, DATES admixture dating and qpGraph search on Max.
Can I upload my raw DNA data from 23andMe, AncestryDNA or MyHeritage?
Yes. Nexju accepts raw autosomal DNA data files from consumer genetic testing services such as 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FTDNA and LivingDNA as .txt, .csv, .zip or .gz uploads. Your file is converted privately and is never shared or exposed; analyses use standard population-genetics SNP formats.
Which reference populations does Nexju use?
Nexju uses the Allen Ancient DNA Resource (AADR), a curated dataset of thousands of published ancient and modern human genomes, so you can model your target against real archaeological populations rather than toy references.
What is the Nexju MCP server?
The Nexju MCP server is an authenticated Model Context Protocol endpoint that lets AI assistants such as Claude search reference populations, build qpAdm models, launch analyses, and read results directly inside a chat conversation.
How do I get started with Nexju?
Sign in with your Google account to create your Nexju workspace. From there you can upload raw DNA data, explore reference populations, and launch your first analysis right away.
